Barry Beckett Children’s Centre provides a service of Long Day Care for families and children which promotes child development and fosters a community spirit within our service. We provide a warm, caring and safe environment that is inclusive and welcoming to families, their children, staff members and also to members of the wider community. The Children’s Program promotes opportunities for children to maximize their individual potential in a variety of ways that embraces the uniqueness of each child’s capacity for learning and development.
Barry Beckett Children’s Centre promotes a holistic team approach towards service delivery. We acknowledge and value the skills and experience that each team member contributes to the service and ensure all staff have opportunities for ongoing professional development throughout the year. Our staff are of diverse cultural backgrounds and many are bilingual.
We regularly review the quality of our service delivery to the community to ensure that the service we provide maintains a high standard of professional practice that meets the requirements of the New Quality Framework and The Early Childhood Code of Ethics.
Sun Smart
Barry Beckett Children’s Centre is a Sun Smart Centre and follows the guidelines and recommendations outlined by the Cancer Council of Victoria in providing sun protection.
This policy will be implemented from 1st of September to the end of April each year when the UV radiation levels are at their highest. A combination of sun protection measures will be used throughout the day and staff will work in partnership with families to ensure the children are protected from the suns harmful UV rays. Parents need to supply a sun hat which is clearly labeled and appropriate clothing that covers your child’s skin from the sun. At Barry Beckett we have set up a SUNSMART STATION where parents can apply SPF 30+ broad spectrum water resistant sunscreen to your child on arrival. Staff will re-apply sunscreen to children throughout the day as needed, at least 20 minutes before the children go outside.
